We are looking for an experienced Cook who is excited about the opportunity to prepare healthy meals, be a healer through meals and making a difference in people's health. Founded in 2005, we specialize in health retreat programs. Our specialty in Detox and Recharge, Physical Health, Emotional Wellness, and Quit Smoking.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare plated meals for a group of up to 30 guests, following the current menu - shared with another chef

Customize meals as per individual dietary needs and custom menus

Food supplies planning and purchasing - shared with another chef

Some food demo classes (typically 1 per week, but may vary)

The ideal candidate has an interest in learning how to prepare raw vegan meals (we teach! and have an established menu) . The person shares our high standards of cleanliness, a conscientious attitude to work, attention to detail, and high efficiency.

The nature of this position is intermittent: you will work for 3-week periods during our program dates and then will have 3 weeks off. During the "on" weeks you'll work four to five 7-8-hr days per week. Please see our Program Dates -retreat-dates/ .

Hours: Most shifts are 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 or 3:30 p.m. There are occasional evening shifts.

SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• Ability to prepare plated meals for a group of 30 people
• Food Safe BC and First Aid (if missing, will need to acquire asap)
• Extensive experience in dietary meal customization (ex., gluten-free, diabetic, allergies etc.)

PERSONALITY:

• Grounded, positive personality with a caring attitude
• Ability to think quickly on your feet, multi-task and manage multiple details related to different clients
• You enjoy a fast-paced environment: able to go up and down the stairs multiple times, lift up/carry fruit boxes, and be on your feet all day
• No-job-is-below-me attitude - you are happy to be a part of the co-caring team and do whatever needs to get done (do dishes, clean toilets and sub other positions etc.)
• Cleanliness (you keep your workstation immaculate)
