Job Description

Job Description

Salary: $20 - $35 per hour DOE

Fotokite develops autonomous, high-endurance tethered unmanned aerial systems to help
firefighters and public safety teams save lives.

Fotokite systems allow first responders to quickly and easily gain situational awareness
after arriving at emergency scenes: our autonomous one-touch launch/land system makes
operation simple and safe; the dual color and thermal camera payload provides situational
awareness from the systems aerial perspective; and actively tethered flight means the
system can be flown without a certified pilot, and can be left flying for as long as the
situation requires.

As a Drone Assembly Operator, youll join a growing team of engineers and technicians to
scale-up our in-house production capabilities. Your focus will be on the assembly and
testing of our roof mount product line, working on complex electro-mechanical subsystems
with a strong focus on establishing scalable workflows while maintaining the high quality
standards essential for mission-critical hardware. You will work directly with engineering and
operations to continuously improve the production process and proactively identify and
address bottlenecks in our production capabilities to help meet scaling demand.

An ideal candidate has experience working in a high precision, low-volume production
environment and is comfortable taking on multiple responsibilities, while maintaining a keen
attention to detail and proactive approach to problem resolution.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Assemble and test complex electro-mechanical sub-systems, including
    troubleshooting and repair.
  • Execute precise product builds following detailed work instructions and
    engineering drawings.
  • Troubleshoot and escalate emerging production issues, communicating them
clearly to other technicians and/or the engineering team.
  • Provide process improvement feedback through red-lined drawings and written
    documentation.
  • Conduct assembly qualification tests according to established procedures.
  • Manage component quality and track inventory demand aligned with build
    schedules.
  • Maintain and optimize shop floor organization and workstation tooling.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education / Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and two or more years of related experience are
    required.
  • Ability to assemble complex electro-mechanical systems using engineering
    assembly drawings.
  • A demonstrated keen eye for detail, a technical aptitude, and a desire to learn.
  • Experience with ESD-sensitive components and ESD-safe environment protocols.
  • Proven record of proactively working to meet production timelines.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet tools, such as Google Workspace and/or MS Office.
  • Desirable, but not required:
    • Prior experience working with robotics systems, aerial platforms, or mission-
      critical hardware.
    • Background in high-precision, low-volume production environments.
    • Soldering experience and/or certification (J-STD-001, IPC-A-610)
    • Experience working with distributed, international teams or organizations

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Starting hourly pay rate ranges from $20 to $35, with the final salary determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equityconsiderations, and market data alignment.
  • This position includes a benefits package including paid holidays; paid time off; short-term, and long-term disability; and paid parental leave. Medical/dental/vision insurance eligibility is dependent on the number of hours worked per week.
  • We require that applicants already have permission to work in the US. We will not sponsor work-related visas now or in the future.

Please include both a resume and cover letter. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
