As a Counselor (Site Lead) at the YMCA of South Hampton Roads, you will play a leadership role in ensuring the delivery of high quality and enriching child care programs for children ages 5-12. Under the direction of the Youth Development Director, you will oversee the daily operations and implementation of the child care program, provide support to staff members, and collaborate with families and community partners to promote positive outcomes for children and families. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and contribute to the overall success of our program.

The Counselor (Site Lead) will meet the qualifications set forth by the YMCA of South Hampton

Roads and the Virginia Department of Education, Division of Child Care Health and Safety.

Minimum qualifications include:

1. Be at least 18 years of age
2. Have a high school diploma or the equivalent
3. Meet the minimum qualifications for “Director-designee” as defined by the VA Department of Education Division of Child Care Health and Safety
4. Staff shall be in good character and reputation
5. CPR/First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire
6. Medication Authorization Training (MAT) within 60 days of hire
7. Completes all pre-employment requirements including background checks
8. Adequate speaking, hearing and writing skills appropriate for interacting with children required
9. Ability to be on time, every time for scheduled shifts required
10. Ability to work at various program locations preferred
11. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
