Your Key Responsibilities

  • Review design documents, shop drawings, and trade submittals for compliance with good building practices related to water intrusion, air leakage, vapor diffusion, thermal performance, and differential movement.
  • Conduct field reviews of new construction and rehabilitation projects to ensure building envelope assemblies match approved mock-ups and design documents.
  • Prepare site visit reports, generate Action Lists for deficiencies, and track resolutions.
  • Perform field testing of building envelope elements to verify compliance with performance standards, particularly water infiltration and air leakage, and document results.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in building envelope design and construction document development.
  • Perform forensic analysis of building envelope failures.
  • Present findings to stakeholders, including legal professionals, contractors, and consultants.
  • Assist with assessments of existing buildings and prepare envelope assessment reports.
  • Lead and manage project teams of 1-5 staff, focusing on timely and budget-conscious results.
  • Develop and lead internal technical training sessions.
  • Review and prepare proposals for new work and participate in business development.
  • Mentor and train entry-level staff in technical and non-technical skills.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Bluebeam, CAD, and Revit is a plus.
  • Project management experience with multiple projects exceeding $100,000.
  • Practical knowledge of energy codes, rain screen principles, air barriers, and thermal performance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Willingness to travel regionally weekly and quarterly out of state.
  • Ability to work on active construction sites.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in assessing, detailing, testing, or constructing building envelope systems.
  • Strong understanding of flashing, waterproofing, roofing, cladding, rain screens, and air barriers.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Science with a background in Building Science.
